This is a part time position working 20 hours per week.
Monday and Thursday 1:00 on -6:00 pm;
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 1:00 pm - 5:00pm


1. Greets patients and their families arriving for appointments; gathers information (eg, name, address, insurance carrier, etc.); registers patients; directs to appropriate location; may schedule tests and other procedures; informs patients of times and locations.

2. Answers and routes incoming telephone calls; takes messages; retrieves messages from voice mail or answering machine; provides information to caller (eg, test results, physician availability, payment policy and procedures); schedules and cancels appointments; may phone in prescriptions according to physician's orders.

3. Prepares patient information for appointments; attaches relevant forms and/or information (lab results, etc.). Updates medical records with lab, tests and referral results.

4. Prepares routine correspondence, labels, lists, and forms; fills in missing information; verifies and checks information; performs mail merges.

5. Performs clerical tasks such as copying, sorting, and collating materials; maintaining various logs; sending facsimiles; preparing billings, submitting patient charges; and collecting and posting payments. Sorts and routes mail; arranges correspondence for physicians and other staff in order of priority; answers routine correspondence.

6. May order, receive, and distribute office supplies; may perform routine maintenance of office equipment.

7. Contacts insurance companies and authorizes visits, procedures and/or medications.

1. Education and Training:
High school level coursework in English grammar, composition and basic mathematics.

2. Experience:

One year clerical experience required, medical office experience preferred.

3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:

* Light typing skills and knowledge of medical terminology required.
* Knowledge of specific computer software may be required for designated areas.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to learn new computer systems and retrieve required data.
