Director of SSD Technology, NVMe SSD Architecture

Micron Technology's SSD Engineering Group is focused on developing leading-edge memory controller and System-on-Chip (SoC) designs, incorporating advanced HW and FW to enable Micron's SSD and mobile NAND product roadmap.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

In this role you will be responsible for the technical aspects of the overall SSD System Architecture, its interaction with Firmware and definition of SoC controllers and its evolution to add new advanced features. This will require working with ASIC, FW and validation architecture teams to ensure that new products and features are designed to cover all aspects of the product. It will also require similar work with key Customers, strategic Technology Partners and Standard Bodies so that we can design the most competitive products.

This will further span throughout Micron organization to cover possible opportunities with other new and forthcoming memory technologies.

It is anticipated that some of the most complex features will also require a separate IP Development efforts to prove their viability, working with the advanced development teams to create customer POC and all necessary support and documentation to enable a successful solution.

In such role you will work with and provide technical guidance for the Platform Development team in technical aspects and coordinating with assigned FW and HW architect and developers providing the necessary technical oversight and leadership.

Platform specification work, customer reviews and successful intercept to a program release are all aspects that will be covered in this position.

It is assumed you will be a key leader to mentor and groom the next generation of successful developers and architects.

Skills and requirements should include:

  • 12+ years of leading roles in Storage and SSD Architecture and/or Development
  • Deep knowledge of main storage interfaces (NVMe, AHCI, SAS, NVMe oF, iSCSI, ) and of NAND backend
  • Design methodologies associated with Embedded Systems, including ARM processor and Storage acceleration modules
  • Deep understanding of Embedded SoC storage controllers.
  • In depth experience with SW and FW development methodologies including building and contributing to source code component or functional behavioral descriptions
  • Proven track record of delivering successful new products
  • Documenting and communicating complex SoC architectures
  • Communication ad mentorship with fellow developers and architects.
