Production Data Analyst - potential contract to hire roleAurora, IL Job Description:
CMC is looking for a Production Data Analyst who can bring the power of data analytics, statistics, and modeling into the real world of manufacturing and business. This is an approved resource, with the possibility of temp to full time hire conversion. The ideal candidate will have a background that allows them to quickly learn our manufacturing process, industry-level needs, and core data systems, which will provide the critical context within which their analysis skills will be used. They must speak the language of functional teams like operations, quality, and business in order to translate their needs into valuable reports, dashboards, metrics, and models. This position will serve as a critical bridge between the IT department and the global production organization. Hiring Requirements:
  • Explore data to uncover new insights that point toward improvement projects or new data science activities
  • Identify opportunities to add value or close gaps via new Analytic tools, KPI s, or predictive models
  • Link Production data and practices to conversion costs, leading to cost reduction projects
  • Act as a source of innovative thinking to collaborate with Production teams to find the best solution for identified gaps or issues, instead of looking only at the short-term or immediate solution
  • Work with Global Learning Manager and IT to develop appropriate training in Data Analytics and CMC custom tools
  • Benchmark against other companies around data science and analytics best practices
  • Monitor data quality and accuracy of the library of metrics, reports, dashboards, and models used within CMC
  • Receive user requests and translate them into clear design requirements, while finding the best way to meet those requests using current infrastructure. Work with IT team to build any new capabilities.
Ideal Qualifications:
Education BS in a branch of data science or analytics or a BS in engineering; Six Sigma Green Belt certification a plus;
Experience Minimum five years of experience total
  • If degree is in Data Science or Analytics, the experience must be in a practical/applied role supporting a manufacturing facility
  • If degree is in Engineering, the experience must include significant work in data science and data modeling
  • Experience doing data science and analytics within SAS and Hadoop databases
  • Solid understanding of query building and optimization
Behavioral Excellent verbal and written communication skills; hands-on approach to working with functional users to understand their needs and knowledge and how to apply it to Analytics projects
Computer Proficient in MS Office; working knowledge of SAS Visual Analytics and Enterprise Guide; experience with database systems and design models, preferably Hadoop and Cloudera systems
