Big Data Infrastructure Architect - Junior

We are looking for energetic and motivated technologists who possess a unique balance of technical depth and strong interpersonal skills to act in the role of an Big Data Infrastructure Architect. You will partner with customers and engineering to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient architectures that address customer business problems.

1. Enjoy working with customers. You will have a passion for educating, training, designing, and building infrastructure solutions for a diverse and challenging set of customers.
2. Have an understanding of large scale computing solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience working as a solutions architect, systems administrator, software developer, or infrastructure engineer. You will enjoy keeping your existing technical skills honed and developing new ones, so you can make strong contributions to deep architecture discussions. You will regularly take part in deep-dive design exercises to create world-class Big Data solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

* As a key member of the implementation team, ensure success in building and migrating applications, software and services on the company platform
* Capture business requirements and tranpose them into technical specifications in order to derive imperically defined infrastructure solutions and provide structured cost estimates for these.
* Act as a technical liaison between customers, engineering teams and operations.
* Educate customers on the value proposition of the application, and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the application ecosystem.
* Peer review designs created by Architects and provide guidance to ensure that solution implementations occur in accordance to the company best practices

Basic Qualifications

* Communication skills are key. Must have the ability to effectively lead discussions with diverse teams of people with the end goal of capturing end to end requirements of a software application product. The requirements will then be used to map appropriate infrastructure resources in order to support successful deployment of the application. You will be responsible for capturing and documenting the requirements, mapping this to infrastructure and documenting this as the design, and assisting with the provisioning of the infrastructure.
* Time management - You will be working on multiple projects with little supervision. The ability to understand the project delivery dates, and effectively manage your time to that end is critical.
* Background in Linux System Administration - 3 - 4 years.
* 2+ years of experience building, administering and operating Hadoop clusters
* 2+ years designing and building hardware infrastructure to support Big Data initiatives
* Expertise managing Hadoop and its ecosystem Hive, Pig, Spark, HDFS, HBase, Oozie, Sqoop, Flume, Zookeeper, etc.
* Cloudera CHD4/CDH5 cluster management and capacity planning experience (Other distributions experience is a plus).
* 2+ years experience working in complex midrange environments, including Linux, and cloud environments.
* Technical degree required; Computer Science or Math background desired
* Proficient with open source software development tools and methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

* 3+ years software/technology customer facing experience.
* Experience with multiple of the following technologies: Mongo, GreenPlum, Kafka, Cassandra, Elastic Search, Spark
* Excellent communication skills with an ability to right level conversations.
* Demonstrated the ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
