The Opportunity This position works on site out of our Des Plaines, IL location in the Abbott Molecular Division. The person hired will drive performance by designing and developing new and improved products that contribute to significant financial success to the division. They will also be an independent reviewer to peers and senior management.

What You'll Work OnThe person hired in this role will be an expert in System Design Engineering specifically instrument design.The below items are typically what the person hired will work on in this role:Collaborates with experts within function to integrate engineering objectives into activities associated with development of new/improved products or technology.Develops network valued by functional leaders.

Actively supports open exchange of expert discipline knowledge.Deepens insight to current and emerging business challenges enabling functional goal achievement.Ensures quality and effectiveness of key results of major project plans within function through sound design, early risk assessments, and implementation of fallback strategies.Anticipates challenges. theories.

concepts, principles, and creatively applies knowledge of advances cross-discipline technology and direction.Applies imagination.Generates institutional knowledge by training others in the department as needed. Breakthrough ideas that are valued by customers approaches, alternatives, andCreates, invents, and implements new or better within the function.

Develops and advances existing and breakthrough technology.Presents engineering concepts and results for function engineering and non-engineering leaders as well as potential and existing partners and 510k submissions Selects, builds and maintains the most appropriate vendor partnerships such as NDAs/INDs/sNDAs/INDA/CE/IDE. Collaborates with internal regulatory experts to ensure compliance with schedules for property, and strategic fit within the product compliance, intellectual design, materials, manufacturing, quality, costs, regulatory team is making good decisions.

Ensures the multiple portfolios.Provides top line and/or secondary review of design results.Discipline expert driving functional performance that ensures the highest standards in quality, customer service and regulatory compliance are met.

Functions as a principal investigator or lead scientist.Anticipates challenges and creatively applies knowledge of concepts, principles, and theories.Required QualificationsBS in Engineering or related field with 10 years of significant product life cycle experience.

At least 5 years of experience Interacting well with diverse groups within R&D and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.At least 5 years of experience in a technical background including healthcare, nutritional products, laboratory diagnostics, medical devices, or pharmaceutical companies.Preferred Requirements: PhD in Engineering or related field with 6 years of significant product life cycle experience or MS in Engineering or related field with 8 years of significant product life cycle experienceAccomplishments at Abbott a plusProven ability to innovate with a history of successful new or improved product releases.
