This is a unique opportunity to help shape and build an oral surgery program for a highly successful and growing dental program where a need exists for our veterans in the Hampton Roads area.

    • Perform surgical procedures of patients presenting with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions.
    • Accomplishes dental-alveolar surgical procedures and complex dental extractions, treatment of orofacial infections, treatment of orofacial trauma, pre-prosthetic surgery, reduction of facial fractures, placement of dental implants and biopsy procedures.
    • Treat orthognathic deformities, and grafting procedures, including harvesting of graft material is consistent with the practice of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Provide safe and effective anesthesia services in the outpatient setting including intravenous sedation/general anesthesia (Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified - ACLS).

This position requires a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine/surgery (MD, DDS or DMD) from any U.S. State. Seasoned oral surgeons and residents are welcome to apply! Our oral surgeon will report to the dental chief, and is embedded in a team of 8 Dentists, 7 Hygienists and 17 Dental Assistants. Additionally, there will be 2 dedicated General Practice Residents (GPRs) to support workload and call needs as required, allowing for teaching/mentoring opportunities. Our oral surgeon will be responsible for the monitoring of CRNA.

As a result of this being a new program, it will allow for a fee-basis option until it is fully operational, but not required. Research opportunities are also available.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm ;flex work available (4x10s).
