About This Position

ChristianaCare is searching for a Finance Manager to support fiscal operations within the Newark and Wilmington Hospitals and supporting ChristianaCare's overall financial health. Other key responsibilities include performing financial planning and analysis related to operational and capital budgets, contract management, and related activities.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning and forecasting of financial and budgetary matters based on activity/revenue indicators and individual department needs. Justify and defend the annual budget submissions.
  • Provides feedback regarding financial performance to departmental leadership including Newark/Wilmington campus Directors and Managers.
  • Support clinical and operational leaders in developing budgets, compiling monthly variance analysis, and preparing financial materials for the Campus Executive Directors.
  • Supports FTE and resource planning for the Newark and Wilmington hospitals.
  • Provides financial analysis related to the monthly operating results of the Newark and Wilmington Hospitals, including highlighting trends of key financial indicators and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partners with Accounting to provide operational and financial information at month end, including providing relevant summary statistics and accrual information.
  • Works with other areas of Finance, including but not limited to Financial Planning, Resource Optimization, Revenue Integrity Cycle, and Decision Support related to matters associated with the Newark and Wilmington hospitals.
  • Partners with Supply Chain to support contracts related to the Newark and Wilmington hospitals.
  • Works directly with finance leadership to ensure proper controls are in place to maintain the financial integrity of data and reports across various systems and applications.
  • Partners with the Resource Optimization team to ensure appropriate benchmarking and alignment to organizational productivity targets.
  • Develops financial and operational forecasts as needed.
  • Performs special projects as assigned.

Education and experience requirements:

Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics required.

Master's degree in related field preferred.

7-10 years of professional experience related to accounting and financial analysis required.

5 years of healthcare experience required.

Experience in large, highly matrixed organizations preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
