The Scientific Informatics group at ABC supports R&D activities at the AbbVie Bioresearch Center that focuses on immunology and biologics therapeutic development. Our mission is to transform healthcare through the development of groundbreaking therapies that improve patient outcomes. We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Bioinformatics Scientist with expertise in biologics drug discovery and sequence analysis to join our dynamic team.

As the Lead Bioinformatics Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in driving our biologics drug discovery programs forward by leveraging advanced bioinformatics techniques and managing a team of talented junior developers, data scientists, and bioinformaticians. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to analyze complex biological data, identify key patterns, and contribute to the development of novel therapeutic approaches.Candidate Responsibilities:Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of 1-2 junior developers, data scientists, and bioinformaticians.

Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture to achieve departmental and company objectives. Provide technical guidance, training, and support to team members.Biologics Drug Discovery: Design and implement bioinformatics strategies for the analysis of biological data related to biologics drug discovery.

Collaborate with research and development teams to integrate bioinformatics insights into drug discovery pipelines. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in biologics drug discovery to drive innovation within the team.Sequence Analysis: Develop and implement cutting-edge algorithms and tools for the analysis of biological sequences.

Utilize sequence analysis techniques to extract meaningful information and contribute to the understanding of therapeutic targets. Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies in sequence analysis.Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including molecular biologists, chemists, and computational scientists, to achieve project goals.

Communicate complex bioinformatics concepts and findings effectively to non-expert stakeholders.QualificationsQualifications:B.S. in STEM with a minimum of 7 years experience or, Masters Degree in STEM with 6 years of experience or, PhD in STEM with 2 years of experience.

Proven expertise in bioinformatics with a focus on biologics drug discovery and sequence analysis.Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java.Experience with relevant bioinformatics tools, databases, and resources.
