Mercy Care has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Med-Peds physician to join an exceptional team providing care for the underserved population in Atlanta, Georgia.

Mercy Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Atlanta serving nearly 16,000 low-income and at-risk individuals annually. The agency started as a volunteer-driven effort in 1985 and is the only Healthcare for the Homeless (HCH) designated provider in Atlanta.

Mercy Cares service area is primarily Fulton and DeKalb Counties, including the City of Atlanta, along with portions of Gwinnett and Cobb counties. Our programs include primary and preventive health care, dental and vision, culturally appropriate health education, chronic disease management and prevention, integrated HIV/AIDS-related services and integrated behavioral health and substance use care. Mercy Care serves metro Atlantas most vulnerable populations through eight fixed and mobile clinics and multiple street outreach teams.

Mercy Care participates in the National Health Services Corp (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program. Physicians employed with Mercy Care are eligible to receive loan repayment assistance through the NHSC Loan Repayment Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Providing direct, adult/pediatric patient care in an outpatient setting with opportunities to engage in population health management and quality/safety activities.
  • This is a clinical position and does not have assigned academic/teaching duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be board-certified or board eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Med-Peds and licensed in the State of Georgia at the time of appointment.
  • Must have a record of providing outstanding primary care as demonstrated by experience and/or references.

Candidates with at least five years medical experience as a licensed physician are preferred. Familiarity and experience in treating medically underserved populations, general primary care, and transgender and HIV status clients is a plus. Experience in the supervision of professional staff and experience dealing with patients of diverse backgrounds is preferred. Clinical expertise and competence in providing direct services and medical consultation is also required.
