About the Role:
We currently have exciting permanent opportunities available within AFC's Independent Fostering Agency. The dynamic and friendly team supports foster carers and promotes permanency for children in care. They provide supervision and support to mainstream and connected carers, as well as assess special guardianship. AFC's focus is on prioritizing the voice of the child within the fostering community, and we offer a wide range of training and stability support to our carers. Their collaborative approach includes peer supervision and team catch-ups, creating a strong sense of community. Additionally, we closely collaborate with the children's team and professional network.As a Social Worker, your responsibilities will include collaborating with colleagues to provide a comprehensive range of fostering services. These services encompass recruitment, assessment, training, supervision, duty services, form C assessments, and special guardianship assessments. Your work will focus on safely placing children and striving to achieve permanency plans for them.At Achieving for Children, they operate within the framework of "signs of safety," emphasizing both safety and success. Peer group supervision sessions are an integral part of our approach. As a Social Worker, you'll have opportunities to contribute to the development of foster carer training and support groups. The current availability of roles is driven by the significant growth in the fostering service.
About you:
As a Social Worker for AfC, you should be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people. We are looking for someone like you who can work flexibly, has excellent communication skills, and can work collaboratively to achieve shared outcomes. It's a genuine team effort in AfC. To be successful in the role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Your ability to use evidence and professional judgement to make decisions and determine the risk of future harm.
  • Your excellent written skills and experience writing comprehensive reports for the Courts.
  • A full understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Social Worker in the lives of the children and families you will work with.

In addition, we expect all social workers to have:
  • A full and valid driving license and access to own transport.
  • A professional social work qualification, CQSW or Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), or other relevant qualification recognised by Social Work England.
  • An active Social Work England registration.
