Scotiabank has begun the journey to modernize both development practices and tools. One of the areas being explored is the public cloud and the various platform technologies that support both development and operations on the cloud. The aim is to reduce costs by providing a streamlined process and framework which will allow the development team to focus on building business logic. We are looking to build our development team with influencers, makers, creators and industry leaders who will drive us forward and enhance the experience of our customers.

This is a leadership position to provide ongoing management and direction to a team of operations engineers focused on continually improving the quality of Scotiabank's Public and Private Cloud hosted banking systems.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Provide business and technical direction to team of Operations Engineers
  • Ensure cloud infrastructure products within your portfolio maintain standards of service quality
  • Lead interactions with internal clients and technology vendors
  • Be a leader in growing reliablity engineering disciplines within the cloud operations organisation
  • Be accountable for team's on call rotation and quality of service delivery

Skills, Experiences and Functional Competencies:

Demonstrated experience applying IT Operations management best practices using ITIL or other frameworks

Prior operations experience with major Public Cloud offerings (Azure, GCP, AWS)

Ability to direct;

- the design and develop software in code testing automation and code deployment

- Provide solutions for performance management, disaster recovery, monitoring and access management


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience

Perferred to have certification in I/T process frameworks including ITIL, TOGAF, Agile

Regular business hours with occasional evening and weekend work required
