The opportunity
Our Risk & Engineering Strategy team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Calgary, Alberta to support the Engineering & Research Programs Department which provides pipeline risk governance for all business units (US Gas, Canada Gas, Mexico Gas and Liquids) within TC Energy to support safe effective pipeline integrity maintenance decisions and continual pipeline integrity program improvements while concurrently meeting regulatory requirements to maintain safe and reliable pipe systems.

We are seeking a driven Engineer who has knowledge and experience in pipeline integrity, integrity inspection technologies, risk and reliability. This is a technical engineering role which involves completing engineering assessments and engineering support for TC Energy's system wide risk assessment program. This individual has skills including being a self-starter with excellent organization, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated attention to detail in work products delivered, time management skills and strong technical writing skills are also important for success in this role.

What you'll do

  • Completion of detailed technical engineering assessments which includes the review of pipeline integrity information, evaluation of the pipeline condition, and determination of fitness for service
  • Critically review data and multi-variate data analysis to drive continuous improvement for TC Energy's business
  • Support and provide recommendations to enhance the System Wide Risk Assessment Program
  • Manage strategic research projects to support business unit needs
  • Collaborate and communicate with business unit integrity teams to evaluate their needs
  • Apply data analytics, research and engineering analysis for various pipe integrity projects
  • Other tasks as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four (4+) or more years of progressive engineering experience in a related role
  • Bachelor's Degree with preference for Mechanical or Civil Engineering or an equivalent Technologist Certification recognized by APEGA including registration as a professional engineer
  • Proven knowledge and awareness of Canadian and US pipeline regulations
  • Highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills to effectively work in a collaborative team environment

  • Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize work; due to the diverse and demanding business requirements within TC Energy, candidates must be technically flexible, learn quickly, and be able to provide a high degree of quality work which is consistent and meets or exceeds customer expectations
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to involve appropriate resources to reach solutions in an effective manner
  • Exemplifies and comfortable with creative, out-of-the-box thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and decision making
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong data analysis and presentation skills are preferred
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • Experience in risk management
