Job Summary

Start Date: May 5, 2020

Length of Term: 8, 12 or 16 months

Location: Calgary, AB or Edson, AB or Lloydminster, SK

Core Responsibilities may include:

  • Support the engineers on larger district projects and day-to-day activities
  • Support local maintenance, operations and safety teams with engineering issues if requested
  • Receiving various engineering work requests from Operations
  • Setting up templates, systems and processes
  • Field visits to review project progress
  • Create/maintain documentation and provide research/analytics as required
  • Set up routine (and ad hoc) reports and visualization
  • Project controls related tasks such as progress and cost report updates, Project reconciliation analysis and data gathering
  • Gather and analyze production data
  • Conduct project feasibility studies and economic evaluations
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary Co-op or Internship program
  • Must be studying an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Electrical, Process, or Software preferred)
  • Preference given to students in their 3rd or 4th year of study
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills (MS Office) are essential
  • Experience in project management would be an asset
  • Programming/Software development skills would be an asset
  • Proficiency in using Spotfire would be considered an asset
  • Experience with VBA and Python would be considered an asset
  • H2S Alive training would be considered an asset
  • Previous oil and gas experience would be considered an asset
  • Strong attitude for carrying out all work in a safe, responsible manner while following safe work practices

Safety Sensitive

  • This role may be safety sensitive and as such you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the Husky pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements
  • Safety sensitive positions requires the operation of a motor vehicle, applicants are asked to provide a recent (ie issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver's abstract, for the preceding 5 year period, if offered the position. A valid Canadian class 5 Drivers License with no restrictions (ie non GDL) is a requirement for this role

Relocation:

Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment to assist with relocation expenses.
