Data Scientist - Credit Risk Management (Permanent)

Location: Sevenoaks Country: UK Rate: £55k - £60k
 

Role: Collections Strategy Manager

Role type: Permanent, on a hybrid working model with a requirement of 3 days per week in the office.

The Collections Strategy Manager will help grow the business whilst maintaining an acceptable level of risk, building the collections analytics function within the organisation.

This role will require collaborating with all other areas of the business including Technology, Data and Customer Management, and requires a unique blend of analytical capabilities and influencing skills to successfully work closely with different levels of seniority.

Responsibilities & accountabilities

Using analytics to enhance existing arrears collections strategies and develop new ones
Provide constructive feedback and influence the customer management teams
Identify new data sources to improve collections and deploy in partnership with the Technology and Data teams
Creation and assessment of new collections scorecards, in close partnership with data scientists
Preparation of monthly Board reporting and materials for Credit Committee meetings
Macro modelling and assessing the impact on loan portfolio
Reviews of portfolio trends and key performance indicators, with deep dives as needed
Providing risk consultancy to other areas of the business
Reporting findings to senior management and Board level

Person specifications:

Analytical mindset - you spot trends and notice details, and have a natural intellectual curiosity
You are a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who can take ownership and work independently towards tight deadlines, prioritising your work appropriately
Good interpersonal and communication skills; you are comfortable presenting and explaining technical information in a non-technical way
Strong service focus and a passion for delivering high quality end-user experience to internal and external clients
Desire to work in a fast-growing, fast-paced environment with a start-up feel
Lifelong learner - you have a drive to learn and continually develop your skills and abilities
Must be willing to occasionally step outside the role of a traditional risk to achieve wider business objectives
Comfortable identifying and raising issues, particularly where driving good outcomes for customers are concerned
Proven experience in credit risk management, data science or collections strategy
Strong SQL skills and advanced knowledge of Excel; Python/R experience desired but not essential
Degree or work experience in a numerate or analytical subject (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Physics, Engineering, Accounting, Finance or similar)
Methodical, logical approach with a commercial aptitude

This role operates a Hybrid working model and a minimum of 3 days in the office is required - must be able to reliably commute to office (due to our location and lack of public transport it is suggested that you are a driver)
