Jobshark.com streamlines the hunt for job seekers

TORONTO (October 2, 2000) - Jobshark.com has responded to the needs of job seekers by introducing a new website that makes it faster and easier than ever for them to manage their entire job search process.

The enhanced design of www.jobshark.com now provides all registered job seekers with a personalized 'My jobShark' account that summarizes all of their job activity, profiles and resumes. Job seekers can now track the jobs they have saved and applied for as well as the status of each application, providing a concise, up-to-date overview of the entire job search.

"Job seekers tell us that they're looking for an easy-to-use, personalized system to manage their online job search," says Matthew von Teichman, President of jobshark.com. "Our new website more than answers the call by delivering more effective reporting and tracking of job searches, simplified registration, enhanced resume building options, superior job search capability and more sophisticated job matching and screening that deliver jobs closely matching their skill profiles."

The site features a number of exciting new features and upgrades that respond directly to job seeker needs, including:

  • Streamlined registration and profile building process -- job seekers spend only 5-10 minutes to register their personal skills and experience. There is no need for them to continuously revisit the site since jobshark.com's JAWS skill set matching software emails complete job descriptions as soon as positions are posted that match their profile.

  • A central 'My JobShark' tool consolidates the job seeker's account history, job activity and applications onto one page, simplifying management of their account.

  • An enhanced 'Job Search' section enables job seekers to search for opportunities by company, category, location or keyword. All searches are reported in reverse chronological order, making it simple for job seekers to identify recent postings.

  • A sophisticated reporting and tracking system enables job seekers to track all job postings they have received through JAWS matching emails or that they have saved through a 'Job Search', enabling them to apply for jobs when it's most convenient. The system also files all job applications enabling candidates to refer to the specific profile, resume and cover letter that was sent to each company.

  • Enhanced resume building options enable job seekers to create up to three different resume formats: a 'reverse chronological' resume which is ideal for candidates applying to jobs within a similar career path, a 'functional' resume for job seekers looking to change careers; or an 'open' resume for job seekers who prefer to cut and paste an existing resume. Resume tips and sample resumes are provided to help the job seeker create a professional and effective resume.

"We're continuously exploring ways to simplify and enhance the online job search experience," says von Teichman. "Our new website provides job seekers with a personal, easy-to-use experience that will help them find the right job, while saving them considerable time compared to traditional methods or other online recruiting sites."
